etc.

I went to the Spigot last night and met up with Maura H, Bulger, some others, Derek and Sara, Jordan... ran into Joe Saphire who was taking his friend Ari around, and reminded me that tonight there's a CATALOGUE party at Saphire and VanderKamp's Arbor Street studio (56 Arbor, second floor). Will get going at around 8:30...

Anyway, go to CATALOGUE tonight. There will be a special music performance by Ari. You can go and drink for free right after you pay to drink at the Real: Public opening at RAW. One stop-- total convenience.

So anyway, I'm leaving tomorrow. Text me. I'm going to wear a boutonniere today while I make my deliveries.

public art

Yesterday evening I went over to Real Art Ways to see the artists' talks by Matthew Rodriguez and Satch Hoyt. Rodriguez was great and really funny. Very lighthearted and charming, which is utmost to me. I love this slacker street art shit. Rebel losers with hearts of pure gold. I love people that compulsively make fun of absolutely everything. God, I love that. He kind of reminds me of David Shrigley I guess, but also real stoney the way Ren and Stimpy were stoney, and anyway, RAW commissioned him (+ 3 others) to make public art projects in Hartford, which thank God will probably be hilarious. Hartford needs to fucking chill. out. and take a joke.

The opening for RAW: Real Public is Saturday afternoon from 2-5pm. There will be free bus tours taking visitors to all four sites by the artists Margarida Correia, Satch Hoyt, Sofia Maldonado and Matthew Rodriguez. There's also a bike tour! if you're into that.

I know I've written about RAW constantly on this blog, which may bore or confuse readers from out-of-town. But its important to understand, Real Art Ways is one of Hartford's two or three only saving graces. As long as I'm fleeing the state and indulging in some nostalgia, I'd like to say that Real Art Ways really is a great organization. They engage truly relevant and intellectually stringent contemporary artists, while also touting a refreshing populist approach/attitude which is welcoming and usually entertaining. Having been one of their artists, I know that they are very good to artists. Now, maybe I'll be quoted in their PR materials.

UGGHHH, anyway...

James and Stacey get married

Yesterday James married Stacey out at Wickham Park. It was classically beautiful and a great day. Friends' weddings are fun and rarely now do people actually do that anymore so marriage is kind of a big deal. Regardless, James and Stacey are right for each other and they're totally in love. What else is marriage for? Living and partying together forever. I don't really know. Its about tax codes, health insurance and hospital visits, if you ask a gay. With James and Stacey I think it was about the inevitable good thing. Its about making a good thing officially permanent. And raising a cute dog together.
