Andrea Henchey has organized a live poetry series at Alchemy Juice Bar over near Trinity College on New Britain Ave. The first event they've planned starts tonight at 7pm. "Inescapable Rhythms" is lifted from the beloved Wallace Stevens poem "Thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird," so please don't assume that "inescapable rhythms" is a really gay name like I did, its actually respectable, intelligent, literary and cool. I'm going because Michael Schiavo is reading tonight, and we met last fall when I was living in Vermont. He was a long-term resident and the writing program coordinator at the Vermont Studio Center. He is not the dude who pulled the plug and killed Terri Schiavo, but wouldn't that also be awesome?
On Friday night, Janice La Motta is opening a big group show of new work by her (un)stable of local artists, including yours truly. Its called "NEW WORK." Get it? The opening is from 6-8pm and I would love to see all my readers and collectors there. I'll pour expensive wine down your throat and express my unending love for you if you buy my work. Afterparty to follow immediately afterwards, but I haven't heard where. Feel free to follow me around all night. Ellen Carey (The Big E) is guaranteed to be entertaining. Jeff Cowie will also hopefully be in attendance.
