I can't believe America right now. Well... we've got a really hot, smart, cool, rational, pragmatic, inspiring, even-tempered, educated black man for president. The entire place erupted last night at around 11 when networks started projecting the Obama win. People in the streets were going absolutely apeshit, people were crying, etc etc etc. My puny brain can't quite grasp the historically enormous moment, and to be honest, whatever this moment is hasn't even sunk in yet. I'm waiting to see Michelle in the White House with the girls and the puppies, redecorating and walking around like they own the place. Then I'll believe it.
We watched the returns at Real Art Ways for a bit with my arty friends, left-wing socialists and Jamaicans. Then we went downtown to the big Democrat party at Union Station. It was crowded. Lots of people I'd never seen before and some definite cuties. After 11pm I went outside to call my lover to congratulate America, and when I hung up the phone, the rich old black man that had been staring at me asked me what I was doing later and wondered if I wanted to go home and fuck on the DL. I love this country.
