The New Years Eve story

I guess we had fun. Every party I went to seemed to just be rushing off to another, getting shut down, just starting to get OK, or way beyond any reasonable level of enjoyment, reaching for an absurd dimension where you are no longer among your friends but with strange fucked up misanthropes grasping frantically for a good time. "We are all parallel straight lines." (-Aldous Huxley) "Here's to another goddamn new year." (-The Dismemberment Plan) What were we celebrating again?
